GOING OUTSIDE

Why choose therapy outside?

'

Going outside for therapy is an alternative approach for traditional office-based therapy.  My goal is to provide an inviting space for those who may be hesitant to try therapy or feel uncomfortable sitting across from a therapist. By incorporating the element of being outdoors with physical movement, many people find that they feel more comfortable and open when talking in therapy.

The rhythm and movement of walking allows us to experience the connection between our bodies, mind, and emotions. This can be a new and inspiring experience for those who have tried traditional office-based therapy and felt like they needed something more dynamic or  different.

Therapy sessions take place outdoors on local hiking trails, parks, or walking paths. The physical movement of walking while accessing our emotions enhances our ability to process our experiences while feeling grounded and attuned to what we are thinking and feeling in the moment.

Benefits

  • Being in nature and the outdoors increases sensory awareness to your environment.

  • Walking and talking about experiences increases endorphins, improves energy, increases sleep quality, increases energy, decreases stress, and improves focus.

  • Exercise increases your brain's ability to learn new things, regulate emotions, has a calming effect, and decreases depression and anxiety over time.
